NEW YORK (Kyodo) Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki was named to the AL Silver Slugger team on Thursday.

Ichiro won his third Silver Slugger Award and first since 2007 after batting .352 with 11 homers and 46 RBIs in 146 games.

He became the first player in major league history to have nine consecutive 200-hit seasons and led the majors in hits (225) for the sixth time in nine years.

The Silver Slugger Awards are given annually to the best offensive player at each position as selected by major league managers and coaches.
