Kenji Otonari came within two outs of his first complete game of the season, setting the pace as the Softbank Hawks beat the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters 4-2 on Sunday.

Otonari (8-9) limited the damage to two runs and five hits, striking out eight and walking four. Softbank saw its winless streak end at five games, including a tie.

Jose Ortiz hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and scored from third on Masaru Takeda's (8-9) throwing error in the sixth. Hiroki Kokubo added an RBI double in the eighth.
