Michihiro Ogasawara and Ryota Wakiya drove in five runs between them, Hisanori Takahashi threw his first complete game in two years, and the Yomiuri Giants beat the Yakult Swallows 8-2 Sunday to cut their magic number for the Central League crown to five.

Ogasawara opened the scoring with an RBI single in a five-run third inning and added a solo home run in the fourth. Wakiya doubled in two runs in the third and singled in another run in the fifth off Yoshinori Sato (5-9) at Jingu Stadium.

Takahashi (8-6) held Yakult to four hits, three of them in a two-run sixth, in a 112-pitch outing. The left-hander did not allow a hit until Ryoji Aikawa singled with two outs in the fifth.
