"Rami Ryu," a book written by Yomiuri Giants star Alex Ramirez, hits bookstores in Japan on Thursday. Its English title is "Rami's Way," with the subtitle "How to Succeed and Be Positive."
The book is not a tell-all and is apparently the first written by a foreign player in Japan while still active. The top brass in the Giants front office has read it and given it their blessing.
It is a heart-warming story of a kid born to a poor family in Venezuela who appeared on the verge of realizing his dream to become a major league ballplayer until circumstances led him to accept an offer from a team in Japan — the Tokyo Yakult Swallows — which turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life.
