The Yokohama BayStars put up a good fight, but it wasn't enough to stop Shinnosuke Abe and the Yomiuri Giants from breaking out the brooms.
Abe hit a go-ahead homer in the fifth inning and the Yomiuri bullpen held off the pesky Central League cellar dwellers to help the Giants earn a series sweep with a 4-3 victory in front of 43,140 fans on Thursday at Tokyo Dome.
The game was a back-and-forth affair through five before Abe put the Giants on top with his 17th home run of the season.
