CLEVELAND (Kyodo) The Cleveland Indians' Triple A affiliate Columbus on Saturday terminated Masahide Kobayashi's contract at the request of the Japanese reliever.

"I really felt like I didn't want to waste the rest of the season and told the club that I could look for a new team by myself," said Kobayashi, who accepted assignment with Columbus after being cut from the Indians 40-man roster in May.

"Nothing is decided at the moment and I am having my agent look for a team for me (in the United States). In the meantime I will just keep myself ready to pitch," said the 35-year-old.
