After an atrocious 8-44 season, the Oita HeatDevils have decided not to offer head coach Tadaharu Ogawa a contract for the 2009-10 season.
The HeatDevils, who were the league's worst team this season, made the announcement on Friday. And now Oita is preparing for the upcoming draft — it will be held on June 15 — without a key member of the team's brain trust (that is, unless a new coach will be hired before the draft).
Ogawa, however, has landed on his feet quickly, accepting an offer to be the new coach of the Rizing Fukuoka, who qualified for the postseason in back-to-back seasons under veteran coach and ex-NBA player John Neumann.
