Pinch runner Takahito Kudo scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning on a wild pitch by Katsuhiro Nagakawa as the Yomiuri Giants edged the Hiroshima Carp 2-1 on Sunday.

Shinnosuke Abe had a one-out, pinch-hit single to right fielder Jun Hirose, who let the ball past him and allowed Abe to reach third base before Nagakawa's (0-3) wild pitch.

Ryota Wakiya homered to give Yomiuri a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Hiroshima tied the score in the eighth on a wild pitch by Daisuke Ochi (3-1), who picked up the win.
