Forward Anthony McHenry gave the Ryukyu Golden Kings a big boost in their series-opening win last Saturday against the Oita HeatDevils. A day later, McHenry provided a similar all-around spark for his victorious team.
McHenry is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced on Tuesday.
A former Georgia Tech and NBA Development League player, the 25-year-old McHenry, a native of Birmingham, Ala., had a triple-double (12 points, 14 rebounds and a season-high 11 assists) in a 94-68 win in the opener. He contributed 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots in the series finale.
McHenry is the Golden Kings' second-leading scorer (16.0 points per game), and is also No. 2 on the team in assists (144), blocks (54) and steals (44). Ryukyu, 16-2 at home, leads the bj-league with a 26-8 record.
