NEW YORK (Kyodo) The Toronto Blue Jays have decided against signing a minor league contract with Japanese left-hander Shigeki Noguchi since he failed a physical, the club said Wednesday.
The Blue Jays gave no other details, but sources close to the matter said the physical found that Noguchi, 34, is having problems with his pitching elbow.
Noguchi has an 81-79 career record with two saves and a 3.69 ERA in 14 seasons with the Chunichi Dragons and the Yomiuri Giants.
