DERBY, England (AP) Derby manager Paul Jewell has resigned after his 50th league game in charge ended in defeat.
The 1-0 home loss to Ipswich on Sunday left Derby 18th in the 24-team League Championship, further hampering its bid for a quick return to the Premier League.
"Derby County can confirm that the club has parted company with manager Paul Jewell with immediate effect," the club said Monday. "Paul has taken the decision to leave his role as he believes it is in the best interests of the club, and feels his is no longer in a position to take the club forward."
