Rodney Webb and Masayuki Kabaya provided a stellar one-two scoring punch for the Toyama Grouses in their first game after Christmas.
Both players had season-best scoring outings in a 103-84 victory over the Tokyo Apache at Ariake Colosseum on Saturday.
Webb finished with 31 points on 12-for-20 shooting, while Kabaya had a 22-point effort, including 4-for-4 from 3-point range, to help Toyama improve to 7-12 overall and 5-4 on the road.
Kabaya also dished out a season-high nine assists on a night when the Grouses ran their offense effectively against Tokyo (12-7). Haruhito Shishito had seven assists and Satoshi Yonemoto handed out six helpers.
Cohey Aoki was the Apache's top scorer with 19 points, followed by John Humphrey's 15 and Julius Ashby's 14.
The Oita HeatDevils, meanwhile, recorded their first home victory in nine attempts this season, topping the Shiga Lakestars 75-67 in overtime.
Jeffrey Price paced Oita (5-16) with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Newcomer Leon Brisport pulled down 16 boards, James Wilkinson added 16 point and 11 boards and Tsubasa Yonamine pitched in with six points, seven assists and seven rebounds.
Elsewhere in the bj-league, George Leach scored 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Takamatsu Five Arrows to a 92-87 road win over the Niigata Albirex BB.
