Local star Takuya Kawamura was selected the Most Valuable Player with his 34-point performance and his East team ran past the West team 120-98 at Utsunomiya Municipal Gymnasium in the JBL All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Kawamura made 10 of 21 3-pointers in the game.
Center Shunsuke Ito, the Link Tochigi Brex guard's teammate, and Rera Kamuy Hokkaido forward Tyler Newton followed with 16 points apiece. Ito had a game-high 11 rebounds as well.
Former NBA player Yuta Tabuse, also of the Brex, had 12 points, seven boards and nine assists, coming off the bench.
For the West team, Hitachi Sunrockers forward/center Kosuke Takeuchi led the way with 19 points and was selected the team's top player.
In the JBL All-Star Jam Session, which was held on Monday, Tabuse won the skills challenge, while Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins forward Carl Thomas and Takeuchi triumphed in the 3-point contest and slam dunk contest, respectively.
