Six players scored in double figures to lead the visiting Tokyo Apache to a 93-71 victory over the Niigata Albirex BB in the season opener for both bj-league teams on Friday.
Tokyo, which led 55-32 at halftime, moved the ball effectively on offense. Five Apache players had four or more assists, including a team-best six by Darin Satoshi Maki.
Cohey Aoki scored a team-high 19 points, newcomer Tizzo Johnson had 16 points and 13 rebounds and center Nick Davis contributed 14 points and 11 boards. Forward Julius Ashby had 13 points in his Apache debut and Jumpei Nakama and John Humphrey scored 10 points apiece.
For Niigata, Yuichi Ikeda was the top scorer with 20 points, while Dokun Akingbade added 18, Akitomo Takeno 12 and Calvin Chitwood 11.
