NEWCASTLE, England (AP) Newcastle hit back Saturday to denounce former manager Kevin Keegan's claim that interference by the club had provoked his resignation.
Keegan quit St. James' Park on Thursday in anger after seven months in charge, claiming that his powers over transfers had been diluted.
But Newcastle came out fighting in a statement two days later, insisting that Keegan had agreed to work with director of football Dennis Wise and knew that the team operates within "financial constraints."
