Ace pitcher Yukiko Ueno pitched six scoreless innings and fanned nine batters in Renesas Technology Corporation's 4-0 victory over Shionogi & Co., Ltd. on Saturday in Ishikari, Hokkaido.
Ueno, who led Japan to the Beijing Olympics gold medal, allowed three hits in her first game since returning to Japan to help unbeaten Renesas extend its winning streak to 12 games against Japan's women's softball league opponents. The streak began in the season opener in April.
The teams played before a packed stadium of 3,000 fans.
"I had a mixed feeling of pleasure and surprise, and was so overwhelmed by the fans," said Ueno, who started Japan's final three games of the Olympic tournament.
