Keigo Hagihara and Rikiya Sano drove in two runs apiece Thursday as Osaka Toin beat Toho of Aichi Prefecture 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals of the National High School Baseball Championship.

Hagihara hit a pair of sacrifice flies and Sano had an RBI single and a run-scoring double, helping Osaka Toin to a 7-0 lead through six innings. The Osaka powerhouse held off Toho's late rally sparked by a Kodai Oyake two-run homer in the eighth.

In other third-round action at Koshien Stadium, Shuhei Kanna broke a seventh-inning tie with a two-run single and Shogo Iha struck out nine in a complete-game effort as Okinawa's Urasoe Shogyo downed Tokyo's Kanto Daiichi 3-1.

Kanagawa's Keio beat Aomori Yamada 2-0 to make it through to the quarterfinals for the first time in 88 years. Ren Yamasaki went 3-for-3 with a first-inning RBI single while Kei Tamura and Naohiko Tadano combined on a five-hitter.

Yokohama, also of Kanagawa, edged Miyagi's Sendai Ikuei 3-2.
