Takayuki Hayashi and Kentaro Yamasaki each homered and drove in four runs Wednesday, leading Seiho of Nagasaki Prefecture to an 11-3 rout of Tochigi's Hakuodai Ashikaga in the first round of the national high school baseball championship.

Hayashi hit a three-run homer and an RBI single in his first two at-bats to help Seiho to a 6-0 lead through the top of the third inning. Yamasaki had a sacrifice fly, an RBI single and a two-run home run as Seiho pounded out 13 hits, including seven extra-base hits.

In other first-round action at Koshien Stadium, Aichi's Toho outslugged Hokkaido's Hokkai in a 15-10 win, led by Yusuke Yamada, who homered on the game's first pitch and went 4-for-6 with five RBIs.

The other game scheduled for Wednesday, between Osaka Toin and Oita's Hita Rinko, was rained out in the second inning and will be played Thursday.
