NISHINOMIYA , Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) Daiki Egawa hit a grand slam in a seven-run sixth inning and finished with seven RBIs as Tokyo's Kanto Daiichi beat Joso Gakuin of Ibaraki 13-5 in the National High School Championship on Monday.

Egawa hit a bases-clearing double to highlight a five-run third prior to his two-out bases-loaded homer, helping the Tokyo school move into the second round of the tournament for the first time in 23 years.

In other first-round action at Koshien Stadium, Kenta Matsuura drove in the game-winning run with a bases-loaded hit to deep left, capping a two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning as Tokushima's Naruto Kogyo rallied to beat Honjo of Akita 4-3.

Urasoe Shogyo ace pitcher Shogo Iha went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and pitched an eight-hit shutout, leading the Okinawa school to a 7-0 rout of Fukuoka tournament debutant Iizuka.

Chiba Keidai Fuzoku, a semifinalist in the spring national invitational tournament, also advanced to the second round as Riku Yasaka hit a pair of RBI doubles in a 3-1 victory over Osaka's Kindai Fuzoku.
