Ikki Shimamura hit his first career grand slam and Satoshi Komatsu threw seven solid innings Monday as the Orix Buffaloes beat the front-running Saitama Seibu Lions 6-2 in the Pacific League.

Shimamura, who had only four hits in his first four years as a pro, connected off Hideaki Wakui for his fifth homer of the season after Alex Cabrera and Shinji Shimoyama walked and Takeshi Hidaka singled to load the bases with two outs in the fourth inning.

Cabrera capped the scoring at Seibu Dome with a ninth-inning two-run shot, reaching 20 homers for the eighth straight season.
