As the WNBA season approaches its midway point, Phoenix Mercury rookie point guard Yuko Oga is in the midst of a solid stretch of play.

She tied her season-high in points (eight on 4-of-5 shooting) and played her second-most minutes (11) on July 5. She's made all six of her foul shots dating back to mid-June. She's averaging 2.2 points per game off the bench, backing up All-Star Diana Taurasi, the league's leading scorer (23.6 ppg)

Oga, who previously played for the WJBL's JOMO Sunflowers, offered some interesting insight into her first season playing outside of Japan in a recent interview with U.S. and international media.
