KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This week I would like to wrap up the comments of Kansas City Royals manager Trey Hillman with whom I visited last month at Kaufmann Stadium in Missouri.

If you read last week's column, you saw where the former Nippon Ham Fighters field boss is hanging in there despite early season losing streaks of five and 12 games and a good part of the year spent in last place in the American League Central Division.

Recently, Hillman has guided the Royals through a successful interleague campaign where they pretty much wiped out their National League opponents, and Kansas City has passed the Cleveland Indians, a team that went to within a game of the World Series in 2007, in the division standings.
