Yuta Tabuse made a low-key return on Monday to the NBA — albeit, the summer version of the world's top basketball league.
The veteran point guard played 5 minutes 18 seconds in the New Jersey Nets' 86-74 win over the Orlando Magic in the teams' 2008 Orlando Pro Summer League debut. Tabuse, one of the Nets' summer league invitees, was 0-for-2 from the field, but sank all four of his free-throw attempts. He added two rebounds and one assist coming off the bench for New Jersey. Maurice Ager and Jaycee Carroll comprised the Nets' starting backcourt.
Tabuse last played in the NBA in the fall of 2004. He then signed with the Los Angeles Clippers but was released without in playing a regular-season game. Two summers ago, Tabuse played for the Dallas Mavericks' summer league club.
