The Osaka Evessa acquired point guard Takanori Goya from the Toyama Grouses, the three-time defending bj-league champion announced Friday. He was traded for an undisclosed amount of cash.
Goya, a native of Okinawa, was the No. 1 overall pick, in the 2006 draft. A two-time All-Star, he has been face of the Toyama franchise.
The 188-cm guard averaged 9.9 points per game last season and was the team's fourth-leading scorer. He was Toyama's assist leader (143) and started 42 games.
The Grouses finished with a league-worst 7-37 record in 2007-08. In their inaugural season, they went 13-27.
