Ex-University of Hawaii guard/forward Bobby Nash put his signature on the dotted line to play for the Shiga Lakestars next season, the bj-league expansion team announced Thursday.
Nash averaged 13.7 points per game as a senior in 2007-08. He drained 59 3-pointers and averaged 35.5 minutes per game. He is the 14th player in Rainbows history to score 1,000 career points. A native of Honolulu, Nash established a single-season school record at the foul line, draining 87.9 percent of his shots.
"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity," the 201-cm Nash said. "Being American, they hold me to a higher standard, and I'll be ready to take on that challenge. It'll be my first professional venture, and I'll pour my heart out to represent myself and Hawaii well."
Nash attended the USBA Pro Tryout Camp in Blue River, Ore., from May 26-30 and then signed with the Lakestars.
