Seiya Takimoto hit a go-ahead triple in the seventh inning Sunday as Toyo University beat Tokai University 7-5 in the final to win its first national collegiate baseball championship title in 22 years.

Takimoto broke a 4-4 tie with his one-out triple before back-to-back RBI hits by Kosuke Tsuge and Shota Ono gave Toyo a three-run lead at Jingu Stadium.

Tokai finished runnerup for the second straight year, missing out on its first national crown in seven years.

Toyo outfielder Hiroto Nakakura, who hit a game-tying homer and a go-ahead triple in a semifinal win over Kinki University, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
