The Japan women's basketball team, coming off an 83-69 preliminary round loss to Latvia on Wednesday, switched to preparation mode for Friday's quarterfinal showdown with the Czech Republic in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women in Spain.
Japan (1-1) received a team-best, 20-point game from Tokushima native Ryoko Yano in the loss to Latvia. She made 6 of 12 3-pointers.
Friday's other quarterfinal matchups are Cuba vs. Spain, Latvia vs. Angola and Brazil vs. Brazil. The top five finishers in the 12-team tourney earn a ticket to Beijing.
