Yokozuna Hakuho beat sekiwake Ama in a playoff final to win a mini tournament Sunday.

Hakuho defeated Bulgarian ozeki Kotooshu, who claimed his first Emperor's Cup last month at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament, in the quarterfinals and sent fellow Mongolian Ama packing with a heave-out maneuver to claim his third straight "Saikyo Ketteisen" title.

Fellow yokozuna Asashoryu was sent crashing to the dohyo surface in the semifinals by Ama, who deployed a well-worked leg trip.
