Nobuhiro Matsuda hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs and the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks pounded out 17 hits in a 13-0 rout of the Orix Buffaloes on Friday.

Left-hander Toshiya Sugiuchi (2-3) allowed three hits in eight innings, striking out 12 and walking none.

The Buffaloes' Ramon Ortiz (0-1), making his first start in Japan, was chased in 4 1/3 innings after allowing six runs.

Softbank took a 3-0 lead through the fourth. Matsuda's two-run drive capped a four-run fifth before the home team piled on another five runs in the next inning, featuring Matsuda's two-run triple at Yahoo Dome.

Nobuhiko Matsunaka capped the scoring with a leadoff homer in the eighth.

At Chiba Marine Stadium, Takayuki Kishi threw his second shutout this season in a seven-strikeout effort and the Pacific League-leading Seibu blanked Chiba Lotte.

Kishi (3-1) allowed two hits with two walks in a 144-pitch outing, leading Seibu to its 20th win of the season. Naoyuki Shimizu (3-3) allowed five runs in eight innings for Lotte, which lost its fifth in a row.

Takahiko "G.G." Sato hit a two-run homer in the fourth and Takeya Nakamura had an RBI triple in the seventh.

At Sapporo Dome, Kazuhito Tadano pitched seven shutout innings of one-hit ball and Atsunori Inaba drove in three runs as Hokkaido Nippon Ham downed Tohoku Rakuten to win its fourth in a row.

Tadano (1-0) struck out four and walked none in his career-first start.
