Shuichi Murata hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh inning and Yuki Yoshimura stretched the lead with a lead-off homer in the eighth as the Yokohama BayStars held off the Chunichi Dragons with a 4-2 victory on Wednesday.
Murata came through with his RBI hit to right-center with two out in the seventh and Yoshimura homered over the left field fence off reliever Akifumi Takahashi in the eighth at Nagoya Dome.
Seiichi Uchikawa opened the scoring with a two-run double in the first but Lee Byung Kyu rallied for Chunichi with a two-run double of his own to tie it in sixth.
Takeo Kawamura (1-0) got the win in relief. Hayato Terahara made his second appearance in the closer's role and escaped a two-on jam for his second save in the ninth. Chunichi saw its winning streak end at three games.
