Satoshi Nagai pitched his second shutout of the season and Takeshi Yamasaki hit a two-run homer as the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles beat the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks for the second night in a row in a 4-0 victory on Wednesday.

Nagai (3-2) allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out seven in a 143-pitch outing and escaped a bases-loaded two-out jam in the seventh by getting Nobuhiko Matsunaka to ground out to shortstop at Kleenex Stadium.

Jose Fernandez opened the scoring with a two-out RBI double in the first and Yamasaki followed with a drive over the left field wall for a 3-0 lead against Kenji Otonari (2-3).

Fernandez added an RBI single for the fourth run in the sixth after Rick Short reached second on third baseman Nobuhiro Matsuda's throwing error to first base.
