Ryukyu Golden Kings point guard Naoto Takushi, Osaka Evessa shooting guard Mikey Marshall, Takamatsu Five Arrows forward Reggie Warren, Oita Heat Devils power forward Andy Ellis and Sendai 89ers center Patrick Whearty comprise the 2007-08 Best Five Team, the bj-league announced. Voting was done by commissioner Toshimitsu Kawachi, the 10 head coaches and the league's players, and players and coaches were prohibited from voting for players on their own team. Takushi, the top pick in last spring's draft, led the league in assists (5.8 per game). Marshall was tied for second in steals (2.1), averaged 19.5 points per game for the league's top team, which is vying for a three-peat. Warren finished third in scoring (21.5) and was No. 1 in dunks (2.0, or 82). Ellis scored a league-best 25.1 ppg. Patrick Whearty gave the Eastern Conference champion 89ers a big presence in the middle, averaging 11.6 ppg and 9.1 rebounds in 44 games.
