Veteran left-hander Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi pitched seven shutout innings and the Hanshin Tigers beat the Chunichi Dragons for the second night in a row in a 2-0 blanking in the Central League on Wednesday.

Shimoyanagi (2-0) allowed two hits — one double — and struck out four while walking one. Tomoyuki Kubota and Kyuji Fujikawa threw two hitless innings in relief with Fujikawa earning his seventh save with a perfect ninth at a rain-drenched Koshien Stadium.

Makoto Imaoka opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first and Takashi Toritani's run-scoring double made it 2-0 in third. Rain started to fall hard from the top of the seventh inning and continued until the final out.
