NISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) Seigo Nishime hit a two-run homer and Nao Higashihama threw a complete game Monday, leading Okinawa Shogaku to a 3-1 win over Meitoku Gijiku of Kochi Prefecture for a quarterfinal spot in the National high school Invitational Tournament.

Nishime's two-run shot to left off Yusuke Nono put Okinawa Shogaku ahead in the first inning and Higashihama helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fourth, making it 3-0.

Higashihama allowed one run — in the eighth — and seven hits in a 129-pitch outing in the day's only matchup at Koshien Stadium, the last third-round game of the tournament.

Okinawa Shogaku advanced to the invitational quarterfinals for the first time in three years.
