Ryo Kawaguchi threw a six-hit shutout Sunday as Kyoto's Heian edged Kagoshima Kogyo 1-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the national high school invitational baseball tournament. In a replay of Friday's game that ended in a 3-3, 15-inning tie, Keita Kono hit a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning and Kawaguchi struck out six and walked one in his third start in four days.
