Kenji Uno pitched a complete-game shutout and delivered a key hit Wednesday, lifting Karyo of Yamaguchi Prefecture to a 1-0 win over Kanagawa's Keio in the National High School Invitational Baseball Tournament.

Uno hit an RBI single in the top of the first inning and preserved the lead on the mound despite getting in and out of jams against the Keio University affiliate, which lacked timely hitting and stranded 13 runners.

Tenri of Nara Prefecture and Okinawa Shogaku joined tournament debutant Karyo in the third round. Tenri went ahead with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by cleanup hitter Takumi Okuda, en route to a 5-1 win over Fukui's Tsuruga Kehi.

Submarine pitcher Yusuke Iguchi went the distance for Tenri.

Okinawa Shogaku capitalized on a first-inning balk by Seiko Gakuin pitcher Hiroto Nakada to edge the Fukushima school 1-0.
