Chiben Wakayama came from behind in a seven-run eighth inning to pound out a 12-4 victory over Nagano's Maruko Shugakukan to reach the third round of the National High School Invitational Baseball Tournament on Tuesday. Trailing by one, Takayuki Hayashi had a bases-clearing double to key the decisive inning as the Wakayama school chipped away to add nine runs in the final two frames. Kenji Sunohara had a leadoff homer in the seventh to spark Maruko to a 4-3 lead before Chiben's rally. In other second-round action at Koshien Stadium, Kyohei Fukunaga drove in two runs with an RBI single in the third inning en route to Toyodai Himeji's 4-1 win over Ichinoseki Gakuin of Iwate Prefecture. Shota Sato struck out nine and allowed a homer by Yoshinobu Sugawara for his only miscue in a complete-game effort. Yoshinori Hiragi threw a three-hitter in a complete-game shutout on just 79 pitches with no walks as tournament newcomer Yazu from Tottori Prefecture beat Tochigi's Utsunomiya Minami 1-0. Yasunori Nakatani had a two-out RBI single in the fifth for the sole run.
