Takahiro Uchimura struck out 11 in a complete-game effort Sunday to help Kagoshima Kogyo beat Mito Shogyo of Ibaraki Prefecture 3-1 and advance to the third round of the national High School Baseball Invitational Tournament. Uchimura gave up just one unearned run and scattered five hits over the distance while overcoming three errors he committed. Yuki Arimura and Yusuke Nakamichi drove in runs for the Kagoshima school. In other second-round action at Koshien Stadium, Riseisha of Osaka edged Shimonoseki Shogyo from Yamaguchi Prefecture 3-2 and Saitama's Seibo Gakuen blanked Komatsushima of Tokushima 2-0. Riseisha broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 10th inning when Shimonoseki center fielder Takahiro Takenouchi dropped a Yuto Kariya flyball with two outs and a runner on second for a run-scoring error. Seibo went ahead in the first inning on a solo homer by first baseman Yukai Kido and increased the lead in the second on three hits. Ryoji Otsuka threw a seven-hit complete-game shutout. Earlier in a first-round game, Meitoku Gijuku from Kochi Prefecture scored the go-ahead run on a sixth-inning squeeze bunt by Rikiya Otoda and Yusuke Nono pitched a complete game en route to a 3-1 win over Tokyo's Kanto Daiichi.
