Ryan Glynn allowed one unearned run in six strong innings and highly touted rookie Sho Nakata continued to struggle at the plate in the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters' 3-1 win over the Yomiuri Giants in a preseason game Saturday.

Kensuke Tanaka had a run-scoring double and Atsunori Inaba hit a two-run single for Nippon Ham, while Glynn allowed five hits with no walks and two strikeouts at Sapporo Dome.

Nakata struck out swinging in a pinch-hit appearance in the seventh, dropping his batting average to .143 this spring.

Right-hander Koji Uehara limited the damage to one run with three strikeouts in five sharp innings for Yomiuri.

Also Saturday, the reigning Japan Series champion Chunichi Dragons defeated the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles 2-0 at Nogoya Dome.

Kenichi Nakata tossed four scoreless innings and new foreign import Tomas De La Rosa had a pair of singles in a 2-for-3 outing. Nakata struck out two with no walks but lacked velocity with his pitches.
