The Women's Japan Basketball League Organization announced Wednesday that Jomo Sunflowers guard Yuko Oga has been named the league's regular season MVP. Oga led the WJBL in assists (7.07 per game) and steals (2.39), helping her team advance to play the Fujitsu Red Wave in the finals, which begin on Thursday. The league also revealed its best five and Rookie of the Year award winners. Best five: Oga, Jomo guard/forward Rika Tanaka, Fujitsu Red Wave center/forward Ai Mitani and Aisin AW Wings center Noriko Hamaguchi. Toyota Antelopes guard/forward Yoshie Sakurada was named the the WJBL Rookie of the Year.
