The Orix Buffaloes have told the Pacific League that they cannot accept its ruling to give the Softbank Hawks the right to acquire right-hander Jeremy Powell, senior Orix official Katsuhiro Nakamura said Tuesday.

"I'm boiling with anger. I want the league to make a decision by closely looking into the case once again," Nakamura said a day after the PL issued its nonbinding ruling in favor of Softbank regarding a disputed deal involving the former Yomiuri Giants player.

The PL had earlier said the contracts the two clubs insist they agreed on with the 31-year-old are both valid and ordered them to work out their differences through face-to-face dialogue.

Earlier Tuesday, Powell said at a press conference in Tokyo that he believes the official signing did not take place between him and Orix, saying he signed a contract faxed to him by Orix because he was told it would be used only for his visa application and the acquisition of his residence status.

Powell also said he informed Orix of a breakdown of negotiations after the club changed terms of the proposed deal. But Takashi Miyata, also a senior Orix official, said Powell's arguments contradict the facts.
