The Orix Buffaloes said Thursday they have sent a copy of the contract signed between the club and former Giants pitcher Jeremy Powell by post to the Pacific League, confirming the official registration of the 31-year-old. Katsuo Nakamura, a senior Orix official, however, said his hands are still tied until the issue is resolved, regarding Powell's dual contract signing with Orix and the Softbank Hawks. "We just have to wait," Nakamura said. The PL determined a day earlier that the contracts that both clubs insist Powell has agreed to are valid and the sides must work out the matter on their own in order to proceed. "We have considered many possibilities and decided to submit the contract as we believe it to be legal," Nakamura continued. Takanori Takeuchi, a senior official for Softbank, said, "If Orix and Mr. Powell did indeed willingly sign a contract, the party with the earlier (contract) date should naturally be legitimate in the legal interpretation."
