Shooting guard Masashi Joho provided the late-game heroics for the Tokyo Apache on Sunday, scoring the game-tying layup on his team's final possession of the fourth quarter to force overtime. He then scored 11 more points (nine on 3-pointers) in OT, finishing with a season-high 22 points as the Apache earned a 98-94 victory and a two-game sweep over the Rizing Fukuoka. Joho is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced on Tuesday. Joho, who joined the Apache this season after two title-winning seasons with the Osaka Evessa, also scored 10 points and dished out four assists in Tokyo's 87-82 win on Saturday. In related news, Sendai 89ers forward Ryan Blackwell earned the league's January MVP award. The former Syracuse University player helped the Eastern Conference-leading 89ers win seven of eight games this month. Blackwell scored 20 or more points in four games, had seven or more rebounds in six contests and five or more assists four times.
