Free agent second baseman Tadahito Iguchi has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the San Diego Padres, baseball sources said Tuesday. Iguchi, a free agent from the Philadelphia Phillies, plans to leave for the United States as early as next Sunday to take a physical. The 33-year-old was initially seeking a multi-year deal but agreed to a one-year contract after consulting his family. In 2007, Iguchi hit .304 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 45 games for the Phillies after being traded from the Chicago White Sox in late July to fill in for All-Star second baseman Chase Utley, who broke his right hand when he was hit by a pitch on July 26.
