Reliever Hisashi Takeda was given a ¥40 million pay raise Tuesday and re-signed with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters on a new deal carrying an annual salary of ¥110 million plus performance related incentives. "I think (Nippon Ham) appreciate the fact that I have played two full seasons," said Takeda, who made 64 mound appearances this term. "Now I am going to have to play even more solidly than I have been doing." Teammate Masaru Takeda, who along with Hisashi, helped the team retain its Pacific League title this season, also put pen to paper on an ¥85 million deal after earning a ¥57 million increase.
