The Chunichi Dragons on Thursday signed veteran infielder Norihiro Nakamura to a new contract carrying an estimated annual salary of ¥50 million, more than an eight-fold jump from his salary for this year. The Dragons rewarded Nakamura with the hefty pay increase after the 34-year-old veteran helped them win their first Japan Series crown in 53 years and became the MVP of the series. "I played all season thinking that I needed to give something back (to Chunichi) and I realized anew with this club that each and every pitch is important in baseball," Nakamura said.
