Osaka Evessa center Jeff Newton helped his team win back-to-back games over the Takamatsu Five Arrows last weekend, scoring 32 points in the series opener on Saturday and 23 more in Sunday's rematch.
Newton is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced on Tuesday.
Newton, a former Indiana University standout, filled the stat sheet with 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks on Saturday. A day later, he grabbed 10 rebounds and had four assists, four blocks and three steals. Osaka, the two-time defending league champion, is off to a 4-0 start this season.
