Freshman Yuki Saito struck out 15 in a shutout effort to help Waseda University clinch the title of the Tokyo Big Six League autumn season with a 7-0 blanking of Keio University on Tuesday.

Saito held Keio to four hits over the distance and finished the season with league highs of four wins and an 0.78 ERA. Waseda won its third straight league title and 40th overall.

Saito became the first freshman pitcher to be named the league's season-ending "Best Nine" all-star team in both the spring and autumn seasons.

Waseda outfielder Yukinaga Tanaka led the league in all three major batting categories with a .393 average, 18 RBIs and three homers.
