Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Tadahito Iguchi said Saturday he wants to keep playing in the major leagues and is applying for a green card. "I hope to sign with a team where I can play second base throughout the season," said Iguchi, whose Phillies were swept by the Colorado Rockies in their National League division series the same day. "No particular team has come to my mind. I want to take my time and speak with my agent," Iguchi said, adding that he is not thinking about returning to Japanese baseball at this point. Iguchi's contract with the Phillies expires at the end of the 2007 season. He was traded from the Chicago White Sox in late July.
