Mongolian grand champion Hakuho was dumped in shock defeat Sunday at the hands of countryman Ama on the first day of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.
Hakuho, who is wrestling as the lone yokozuna after Asashoryu was hit with a suspension from the next two tournaments, was sent sprawling onto his back in the day's final match at Ryogoku Kokugikan after komusubi Ama deployed a perfectly timed leg trip while grappling the yokozuna by the neck.
